Les Handly Scholarship Nomination
In honor of Walter “Les” Handly and his generous contribution to the Philadelphia Region SCCA, the Board of Directors proudly establishes the Les Handly Memorial Scholarship to support members who may not otherwise have the financial means to attend a national SCCA championship event.
Purpose
This scholarship is designed to help a Philadelphia Region SCCA member participate in one of the following SCCA national championship events for the first time—either as a competitor or a volunteer worker:
-
SCCA Solo Nationals
-
SCCA Runoffs
-
SCCA Road Rally National Championship
-
SCCA RallyCross National Championship
Eligibility & Criteria
-
Candidates must not have previously attended the championship event they are applying for.
-
Preference will be given to those for whom the cost of entry, travel, and accommodations would otherwise be a financial hardship.
-
This scholarship is not intended for members who already plan to attend and have the financial means to do so.
Nomination & Selection Process
-
Any Philadelphia Region SCCA member may nominate another Philadelphia Region SCCA member for the scholarship.
-
Nominations must be submitted in writing to the Treasurer at least 60 days before the event (this deadline may be waived at the Board’s discretion).
-
The nomination should include:
-
Reason for selection (e.g., participation in regional events, contributions to the club, enthusiasm, improvement in skills, etc.).
-
Confirmation that the nominee has not previously attended the event.
-
A general estimate of costs associated with participation.

SCCA Women on track Mentorship & Ladies class
Women on Track + Philly Mentorship Program
The Women on Track + Philly Mentorship Program is designed to provide guidance and support to new or less experienced women drivers participating in Philly Region Solo events. Mentees are paired with experienced drivers who serve as mentors, offering advice, answering questions, and providing encouragement throughout the event and beyond.
How to Get Involved:
Mentees: If you’re a woman driver interested in mentorship, you can opt into the program during event registration through MSR.
Mentors: If you’re an experienced driver (priority given to women) and would like to mentor, please email amyrwunsch@gmail.com to get involved!
Through these initiatives, we aim to create a supportive space where women in motorsports can learn, grow, and thrive. Join us on the track and be part of this incredible community!

Philly Region SCCA Solo is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all current and potential members. As part of this commitment, we proudly offer programs designed to support and empower women in motorsports through mentorship and community-building.
Ladies Class
Our Ladies Class is an optional indexed class available for women drivers, allowing participants to compete for end-of-year (EOY) points and trophies. This class is designed to foster camaraderie among women drivers in the region and provide a comfortable and supportive environment to race.
Participation is completely flexible! You are welcome to join or leave the Ladies Class at any time—it’s an opportunity, never an obligation.
